Hydration estimate
A soft starting range for daily fluids based on body weight — not a clinical fluid order.
About 2.0–2.4 L / day
Roughly 69–81 fl oz as a soft starting range.
Fluid needs vary with climate, illness, pregnancy, kidney or heart conditions, and clinician guidance. Some people must limit fluids — follow your care team if you have medical restrictions.
What this result means
This tool offers a soft daily fluid starting range based on body weight and an optional activity bump. It is educational, not a clinical fluid order.
Many adults do well drinking steadily across the day and using thirst plus urine color as practical checks — unless a clinician has set fluid limits.
Electrolyte drinks are more often useful with prolonged sweating or gastrointestinal losses than on ordinary desk days.
How we calculate it
- Base estimate uses about 30–35 mL of fluid per kilogram of body weight.
- An optional activity adjustment adds roughly 5 mL/kg when you mark a higher-sweat day.
- Results are shown in liters and approximate U.S. fluid ounces.
Limitations
- Needs vary with climate, illness, pregnancy, altitude, diet, and medications.
- Some heart, kidney, or liver conditions require fluid restriction — follow your care team.
- Does not diagnose dehydration or overhydration.
- Does not replace oral-rehydration guidance during significant vomiting/diarrhea.
